GM’s latest battery technology incorporates several advancements into its Rechargeable Energy Storage System (RESS) pack offerings. Featuring a liquid cooling system designed to help improve battery life, thermal management, safety, fast charging, and energy density, and the addition of aluminum in the battery chemistry to further reduce weight and costs. With RESS pack options ranging from 12–24 Modules and power storage capacity ranging between 102 kWh and 205 kWh, GM’s RESS packs are well-suited for a wide range of applications across industries.
RESS Pack
GM’s latest electrification solution (also referred to as a “Battery Pack”), holds 12–24 modules within a single RESS pack.
Features include:
- Fast charging up to 350 kWh and an 800V DC
- IP67 Ingress Protection (IP) Rating
- Controlled with GM’s Integrated Control Unit (ICU)
- Additional RESS pack configurations and power ratings may be available
Modules
GM’s assembled modules contain 24 interconnected NMCA cells housed together within a RESS pack.
Features include:
- Up to 8.5 kWh storage capacity
- 1.75 sq. ft. footprint in a versatile design
- Modules may be purchased separately and are available
Cells
GM’s Cells utilize a double-ended pouch design containing a nickel, manganese,
cobalt and aluminum (NMCA) compound.
Features include:
- Up to a 0.354 kWh capacity
- Vertically or horizontally stackable for flexible integration designs
- Utilizes addition of aluminum to the battery chemistry to reduce weight and costs
- Cells may be purchased separately and are available
